Financial Benefits
Salary and pay
We have a fair, equitable and transparent pay policy which is competitive within the sector. We show the salary on all of our role advertisements.
Holiday Entitlement
The basic allowance is 27 days leave per year (pro rata for part-time employees). After five years this increased to 29.5 days and after 10 years it rises further to 32 days. As well as the 8 public holidays there is an additional “Save the Children Day” of annual leave coinciding with the anniversary of the signing of the Convention of the Rights of the Child.
Pension & Life Assurance
New recruits will be automatically enrolled into a Group Personal Pension Plan in their first payroll (with the right to opt out). This applies to everyone aged 22 and above but under state retirement age, earning at least £10,00 p.a. and classed as working in the UK, but employees cannot sacrifice salary if it takes them below the Real Living Wage.

Remote Equipment Allowance
SCUK offers all Save the Children employees an equipment allowance of up to £120.00, to support with a healthy and safe working space. This can be spent on items such as office furniture or tech equipment.

Life Change Benefits
Maternity / Adoption Arrangements
After working for Save the Children for six months, full and part-time employees are entitled to 21 weeks full maternity/adoption pay. A reduced entitlement applies to staff with less than six months service. All employees, regardless of the length of their employment, are entitled to 52 weeks statutory maternity leave.
Paternity / Adoption Arrangements
After working for Save the Children for six months, full and part-time employees are entitled to 10 weeks full paternity/adoption pay in addition to the statutory 2 weeks paternity pay.
Hours of Work and Flexible Working
The standard working week at Save the Children UK is 35 hours. Start and finish times can be agreed between employee and manager. Flexibility of working hours may be required to meet Save the Children’s varying needs. A number of posts are offered on a part-time basis and there is potential for job sharing in some roles.
Special Leave
Up to 10 days per rolling year are permitted (pro rata for part time employees), without loss of earnings or annual leave, when an urgent and exceptional domestic situation or personal crisis arises.
Volunteer Leave
To support the valuable contribution volunteering provides Save the Children UK, we would also like employees to have a chance to volunteer and have new experiences. Employees who wish to take volunteer leave are entitled to three days paid leave per year (pro rata for part-time employees) to undertake volunteering work.

Season Ticket Loan
Interest free annual season ticket loans are available once your period of probation is complete. The current loan limit is £5,000
Cycle to Work Scheme
Our Cycle to Work Scheme is run by Sodexo in Partnership with Cycle to Work. This unlimited scheme provides a tax efficient way to obtain a bicycle and accessories. Repayments are made over 12 months by means of salary sacrifice in order to obtain full relief from both income tax and National Insurance. To be eligible, employees need to have completed their probationary period and have an employment contract which lasts for at least 12 months from the date the bicycle is collected.

Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
The EAP is a free, confidential service that offers expert advice, information and counselling for all SCUK employees. This covers a wide range of issues including buying a new home, starting a new job, having children, managing money and much more. This service is available around the clock.
Eye Care
Save the Children offers vouchers for a full eye examination and single vision CR39 glasses for all UK staff where the staff member feels the use of display screen equipment is affecting their eyesight.
Flu Jabs
Each year Save the Children arranges for flu jabs to be available for staff over a number of daily slots. More information is released at the time of the offer each year.
Tele Health through AIG Smart Health
With Smart Health, you have unlimited access to online, telephone and video GP appointments as well as a range of health and wellbeing services. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year , the services are also available to your partner and any children up to the age of 21.
