Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Executive Assistant (EA) to the CEO to join us on an 18 months fixed term contract.

 Reporting to the Chief of Staff, this role will support the CEO by managing their time, diary and priorities, liaising with multiple internal and external players using judgement and authority.

The CEO's office sits at the heart of organisation and is frequently the first point of contact for numerous individuals and organisations, both national and international.  It's a dynamic and exciting place to work and we need an energetic and organised self-starter to help support our CEO and Executive Leadership Team.

Please note, this role requires working in our Farringdon offices in London 3 days a week and 2 days remotely.

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Provide high-level support to the CEO to ensure his agenda, priorities and objectives are met – including strategic diary and inbox management.
  • Manage the CEO's briefings, commission and coordinate from colleagues across the organisation to ensure he is fully briefed for all meetings and travel using One Note.
  • Manage planning for ELT meetings and ways of working, and support CEO management of Executive Directors.
  • Provide high-level executive support to the CEO while also enabling the Chief of Staff in driving strategic initiatives, streamlining operations, and ensuring seamless cross-functional coordination.
  • Be an informed key contact for the CEO team and handle internal and external enquiries in a professional manner liaising with key contacts across corporate, political, media, NGO and other networks.
  • Support the CEO in any personal admin requirements.

 The EA to the CEO is to carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects:

 About you

  • Experience of executive assistance is required – in support of a CEO or equivalent is essential.
  • Ability to own, organise and prioritise multiple tasks efficiently, manage reactive and proactive work from a range of colleagues, and deliver tasks to tight deadlines.
  • A pro-active disposition with the ability to use your initiative and be able to think creatively to solve problems.
  • Excellent written skills, with the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise with a wide range of stakeholders with professionalism.
  • Energy and creativity, with good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • A fast learner – able to pick up information quickly and adapt to change.
  • Highly computer literate and confident with Word, One Note, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel.
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential information.

Ways of Working:

The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter).  This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.
