Salary Transparency
We are one of 200 charities that have committed to always #ShowTheSalary in our job adverts when we recruit. This practice supports a growing movement that is looking to make the sector a fairer, inclusive and more equitable place with regards to gender and ethnicity pay gaps.
Equality and Diversity
Opportunities Form
For us to deliver in the best way we can for children, we need to ensure that our organisation is fair, inclusive and operates in an equitable way. For us to do this it is important that we collect equality data from across the organisation. By collecting this data, we can establish a baseline, carry out analysis to track any patterns or trends, set and meet targets to ultimately make our policy, process and practices more inclusive and fairer. This data will help us :
- Identify structural barriers in the workplace.
- Ensure our processes are fair and do not place barriers in front of people from under-represented groups.
- Concentrate our efforts where it’s needed by having the right systems and processes in place that support underrepresented staff
- Dismantle organisational barriers placed in front of colleagues with disability
- Help to decrease gender/ethnicity and other pay gap
- Support better working practices including flexibility in working patterns and environments.
Please note that the selection panel will not see this personal data and so will not affect your application. It is solely for anonymous analysis.
Reasonable Adjustments
Save the Children UK is committed to ensuring that candidates with disabilities, mental health conditions or long-term health conditions are not at a disadvantage compared to other candidates when applying for a role.
We welcome any confidential conversations you may want regarding any reasonable adjustments (i.e. a change or adaption) at any stage of your application so you can be confident that you are presenting your best self during the hiring process.
Interview Questions in Advance
Interviews can be stressful so our aim so to make the process as easy as possible so you can present your best self during the hiring process. By giving you the interview questions in advance of your interview, you will have the time to focus your preparation and eliminate the element of surprise.
This practice helps to provide a more neurodiverse – friendly hiring process for those who have difficulty retaining verbal information, especially when experiencing anxiety, which will likely occur at a job interview.
Memberships & Associations
Disability Confident:
We have joined the Disability Confident scheme. This is a voluntary scheme that looks to help organisations successfully hire and retain people with disabilities or those with health conditions. For more information on what this means click here.
Stonewall:
We are proud to be Stonewall Diversity Champions. Through this programme we have worked to build on our existing commitment to LGBT+ inclusion, gained access to expert consultations, training and resources from Stonewall to support our employees. We do our utmost to ensure all LGBTQ+ staff are free to be themselves in the workplace.
Living Wage:
Save the Children UK is proud to be a Living Wage Employer since 2014 accredited by the Living Wage Foundation. The real Living Wage is the only UK wage rate that bases its wages on living costs. It’s when employers believe their staff deserve a wage which meets everyday needs - like the weekly shop, or a surprise trip to the dentist. We believe everyone deserves a living wage.
