About the Role
Located in the heart of Machynlleth, a traditional market town in mid Wales, this shop is one of our family of vibrant and community rooted Save the Children stores. The double fronted beautiful shop is well cared for and is especially popular with visitors and tourists during the summer months, playing a key role in the town's thriving local life.
As Store Manager, you'll lead a dedicated and diverse team of around 30 self-sufficient volunteers who are passionate about making a difference. You'll be instrumental in maintaining the shop's excellent local reputation, while also identifying opportunities for continued growth through community engagement, stock generation, and further volunteer recruitment.
With the shop open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am–4.30pm, you'll take ownership of day-to-day operations, lead by example on the shop floor, and bring fresh ideas and energy to everything from displays to fundraising initiatives.
About You
You will be someone with exceptional people skills, a natural leader who understands the importance of community and enjoys supporting people to exercise similar passions through volunteering.
You'll bring:
- Proven experience of leading and motivating a team, ideally in a retail or customer-facing environment.
- Ability to effectively manage operational challenges with a calm, steady, and positive approach.
- Strong retail acumen, with experience in managing performance, delivering great customer service and driving sales.
- A passion for working with volunteers and making a real difference in your community.
- A flexible, hands-on attitude and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Ways of Working: This role will be based on-site in the Machynlleth (Wales) shop. We're looking for someone able to work 5 days (35 hours) per week to include some weekend working.

Location & Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but at times you will be required to come to your contracted office (usually between 2–4 days per month, depending on the needs of your role, team, or service). For many roles, this is likely to be the minimum required to deliver impact.
This will be discussed and agreed with your manager / team and we encourage candidates to discuss our ways of working in more detail at interview stage.
