Senior Policy and Research Manager - 7229

We're looking for an experienced Senior Policy & Research Manager to lead our UK Child Poverty policy and research work in Westminster.

This is a 10 month internal secondment.

About the role

As Senior Policy & Research Manager, you will both lead and contribute to multi-disciplinary teams to shape our Westminster policy and campaigning work. You'll manage and support a small team of policy professionals, lead ambitious policy development and research on child poverty, and ensure the voices of children, young people and families with lived experience are embedded across all of our work. You will lead on, and support the team to, deliver high-impact research, briefings and advocacy to drive change in Westminster, and support the policy development and influencing locally and regionally.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and lead ambitious policy positions on child poverty, informed by evidence and lived experience
  • Deliver high-quality research, reports and briefings that influence government and local authority policy
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex influencing projects
  • Strengthen engagement and co-production with children, young people and families facing poverty, particularly those experiencing marginalisation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, researchers and sector partners

About you

To be successful, it is important that you have:

  • Strong knowledge of child poverty and the children's sector, including systemic drivers and inequalities
  • Proven strategic leadership experience, including line management and/or leading MDTs
  • Significant experience in policy research and analysis, using qualitative and quantitative evidence
  • Experience co-producing research or policy with children, young people and families
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex evidence into compelling policy messages
  • Commitment to Save the Children's vision, mission and values.

Location & Ways of Working:

The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but at times you will be required to come to your contracted office (usually between 2–4 days per month, depending on the needs of your role, team, or service). For many roles, this is likely to be the minimum required to deliver impact.

This will be discussed and agreed with your manager / team and we encourage candidates to discuss our ways of working in more detail at interview stage.

Please note: travel costs to your contracted office will be at your own expense.
