Save the Children is recruiting a EU Team Lead to further strengthen and build Save the Children’s broad-ranging partnership with DG DEVCO, DG ECHO and DG NEAR - our core institutional partners. This role will also be responsible for leading the EU focused Save the Children UK Strategy through close links with wider movement. This position is based in London.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our UK and Global Programmes department delivers humanitarian and development programmes, builds partnerships with institutional donors – including governments, multi-laterals and trusts – and drives lasting change. Together, we save children’s lives, fight for their rights and help them fulfil their potential.

As the EU Team Lead you will lead a team of two Account Managers and our Brussels office with the primary responsibility of capitalising on funding opportunities that are consistent with our strategic and thematic priorities to deliver change for children. You will also lead our engagement in efforts to inform and influence policies and investment priorities, as appropriate. In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading a team of partnership experts across the EU (DG’s ECHO, DEVCO & NEAR), as well as coordinating on other institutions, as required, by providing vision and strategic direction to the organisation, and wider movement.
  • Influencing a complex global network of internal and external stakeholders (including at the most senior levels) to optimise our engagement with the portfolio.
  • Strengthening, developing, and optimising both existing and new partnership opportunities, across the global movement, as well as supporting the team in navigating a complex environment caused by Brexit.
  • As a senior member of the PD Team and a senior staff member in the organisation, and movement, contribute to the development of the wider strategic agenda, lead on cross departmental/divisional projects and deputise for the Head of Partnership Development, as required.

To be successful you will have extensive experience within and knowledge of EU and a proven record of accomplishment in partnership building, brokering relationships with partners and engagement at a senior level. A committed team player and a strong manager, you will also have:

  • A strong record of accomplishment in strategic account management.
  • Experience of influencing and delivering results cross organisationally within a large complex organisation.
  • In depth experience and knowledge of current thinking and future trends and thorough understanding of contemporary development and child rights issues.
  • Strong and demonstrated team leadership skills.
  • MA or equivalent or related experience in a relevant field (Development Studies, Political and Social Science, or similar).
  • Willingness and ability to travel.

At Save the Children our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
